Due to an illness the THECB Update Session has been cancelled. Lois is down sick but still wanted to share this information with everyone along with her apologies.
Here are the rules for the tuition set aside reporting and below is information from our attorney.
- Can institutions provide this information on their website and provide a grid that says---"if you take xx hours the amount of your designated tuition that goes toward financial aid is x"---and provide a link to that in a statement that is sent to the student Institutions can do this in addition to providing the information on their billing statement or in an e-mail.
- For students who have their tuition paid for by exemptions, do those students have to receive a statement—basically those students do not pay tuition ---No. If students do not "pay" tuition, then this does not apply
- Would it be permissible to say that xx% of their designated tuition goes to pay for financial aid: No
Also, institutions only have to notify the student based on the number of hours in which they originally enroll. If the students add and drop and the charges change, updated notices are not required.
